“When you merge documents in DocShift, every file stays on your device — combining contracts or client files leaves no data footprint on any external server.”

How we compare

Combining PDFs through iLovePDF or Adobe Acrobat Online means uploading every document simultaneously to a third-party server. For a bundle of NDAs or client files, that is a significant privacy exposure. DocShift merges them entirely in your browser.

DocShift imposes no server-side limit because there is no server involved. You can add as many files as your browser session can hold in memory. In practice, merging twenty to thirty standard-weight PDFs is well within the capability of any modern device.

DocShift's merge operation preserves the page content and visual fidelity of all source documents. Complex interactive elements — form fields, JavaScript actions, and cross-document hyperlinks — may not behave as expected in the merged output, as these reference document-internal structures that do not translate cleanly across a merge boundary.

Password-protected PDFs cannot be merged without first removing the password. Use DocShift's Remove Password tool to unlock each document — entirely in your browser — before adding them to a merge operation.
